This truck has been in my family since it was new and it has sentimental value or I would have unloaded it years ago. I’ve been at my wits end with it for sometime now. It’s been a gas guzzling gutless wonder since day one. When you’ve got 460 cubic inches under the hood and every time you think about passing you have to decide if you’ll have enough fuel left to get to the next gas station and enough horsepower to not die passing that Prius that’s in front of you there’s a problem and these guys can cure it for you!
I’ve spent more time searching forums trying to figure out my bad idle, mpg, hesitation and black exhaust smoke then I’ve spent talking to my wife in recent history (maybe the trucks not that bad after all). My go to tool has been a can of carb cleaner so that I could try to find the next vacuum leak. I’ve tried a cat back, cutting off the air horns, 6.0 tune up anything to try to improve the mpg or the hp with basically little to no improvement. To be frank I’ve spent more money in sensors in the last two years then I spent buying the twisted smog box and a throttle body. If your on this path or just starting down it just stop doing what you doing, your wasting your money and time just call these guys.
I finished putting my parts on and this thing moves like I never thought it could or would. Im not sure what the mpg is going to be in the end mostly because I can’t keep my foot out it but I’m using less going fast then I was going slow.
If your dream is to put on Mr Banks 2k kit as mine was don’t bother my friend had to begrudgingly admit that the 460 EFI Guys bolt ons had superior throttle response and acceleration compared to the Banks kit he has on his for less than 1/2 the price.
I got quick responses from Russel with a few questions I had and I have to say after 25 years in the automotive industry that it’s rare for the average Joe to get personal service from someone that’s the best at their specialty in this industry but that’s what you get here. I guarantee you that for 2k you won’t be hearing from Mr. Banks and won’t be anywhere near as happy with the finished product. If you want a smile like the guy on the you tube video that put these guys kit on his truck call Russel if you don’t call them carb cleaners .97 cents a can at Walmart I’d recommend a case. Well I guess I have to go talk to the wife but at least she’ll think I’m smiling at her. Thanks guys!!!!!
Used a 96' 460 in my 67' F250 using this conversion, and couldn't be happier. Saved me a lot of frustration trying to convert the harness myself, and made for a clean install. Had it running within a day of getting the harness.
Hook up power/ground/ignition signal to the ecu, plug in the connectors and it's ready to run. Do note the starter/alternator circuits will not be included in that, but they are dead simple to wire up.
I have this kit installed on my 1976 f250 with a 400m and all I can say is wow! The kit was easy to install and made a huge difference in the performance and MPG. This kit moved this truck into the modern world as it was always a pain to start with the carb now I can reach in and just kick the key for easy starts in any weather. I live in Colorado at 10k feet of elevation and often come down to Denver in the truck and the ECU takes care of all the mapping concerns that I would have had regarding the fuel mixture. I often drive this truck up the high mountain passes pulling a trailer with ease. One of the most impressive aspects of the kit is that on the open highway ( I know its hard to believe, but its been tested many times) at 65mph I can achieve 16mpg and intown mileage is around 12-13mpg. This is a huge difference as I was only getting 8 or so with the junky carb. On a different note Russell is very helpful and knowledgeable. I only needed a couple of small questions answered and he was available by phone. I have a number of products from this company and would say that the customer service is the best.
I never imagined this old flatbed would pull my loaded skid steer trailer through the Rockies, down to sea level and back with as much power as it has now.
Recently added a E4OD, it made a great addition and gets me better mpg's than I thought it would.
You guys weren't kidding it was a lot easier than I could have imagined to install, and it runs amazingly. Have anyone who is considering getting one of these call me
We took it out for a test drive. This engine has the 1988 EFI 460 heads and it has no problem moving with traffic. My neighbor commented "My Honda CR-V couldn't keep up with you." Not bad for road wale RV.
The 460 engine I'm using to upgrade my 72 came out of a 90 model F-250. It ran but had numerous wiring issues with the fuel injection and other systems. Even though I was swapping the engine to an older truck i wanted to keep the modern convenience of fuel injection during the engine upgrade. I sent my damaged harness and the computer to Russel to build a stand alone EFI harness. The stand alone system simplifies the wiring harness tremendously and made a very daunting task into a much more simple task. All of the harness connectors are clearly labeled and bundled nicely. All you have to do is plug the connectors into the appropriate spot follow some basic instructions on how to connect a few more wires and that's it! This harness saved me a bunch of time and ultimately $$$. Cant wait to finish my build and get her on the street!
